Deer Resistant Summer Garden – 60 Premium Deer-Resistant Bulbs
Don’t let deer ruin your garden dreams! This carefully selected collection of 60 deer-resistant flower bulbs lets you enjoy stunning summer blooms without worrying about wildlife damage. Includes 15 Dutch Iris bulbs, 15 Freesia corms, 15 Anemone corms, 10 Crocosmia corms, and 5 Liatris corms — all varieties that deer naturally avoid due to their taste, texture, or fragrance.
Planting Instructions: Plant all bulbs in spring after the last frost. Iris: 3–4″ deep, 3–4″ apart. Freesia: 2″ deep, 2–3″ apart. Anemone: soak 2–4 hours, plant 2″ deep, 3–4″ apart. Crocosmia: 3–4″ deep, 6–8″ apart. Liatris: 2–3″ deep, 12–15″ apart. Plant in groups by variety for the most impact, or mix together for a naturalized meadow effect.
Growing Conditions: All varieties thrive in full sun with well-drained soil. This collection is suitable for USDA Zones 5–9, with many varieties hardy to even colder zones. Liatris and crocosmia are particularly cold-hardy and drought-tolerant. All varieties are low-maintenance and attract beneficial pollinators while repelling deer and rabbits.
What to Expect: Enjoy worry-free blooms from early summer through fall. Anemone and iris bloom first (spring to early summer), followed by freesia (early to mid-summer), then crocosmia and liatris provide brilliant color in mid to late summer. Heights range from 12 inches (anemone) to 3 feet (liatris, crocosmia). The fiery reds and oranges of crocosmia contrast beautifully with purple liatris spikes. All varieties make wonderful cut flowers for deer-free enjoyment indoors too!
